Jack has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Marquette University. He graduated magna cum laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. Jack spent one semester studying in Washington D.C. and interning on Capitol Hill in Congress. He also traveled to Nicaragua on an alternative spring break. After graduating, Jack taught at an elementary school in Chapel Hill, NC; traveled to Central America, South America, Spain and Morocco; and helped strip and rebuild houses in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, after Hurricane Katrina.

During law school, Jack interned one summer at the Immigrants’ Legal Assistance Project at the North Carolina Justice Center and another summer at Advocates for the West, an environmental non-profit law firm in Boise, Idaho. At ILAP, Jack wrote an appellate brief for a man from Bangladesh persecuted for his religious beliefs and seeking asylum in the U.S. and also worked on U visa, Cancellation of Removal, VAWA, and NACARA cases. At Advocates for the West, Jack researched and drafted legal briefs and collected field data for environmental litigation against the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service for mismanagement of public lands. In Idaho he also took advantage of his weekends, learning how to kayak, biking in the mountains, and finding remote streams to fly fish.
